Personal Statement:
I am Glenna Mount and I live in Havana, IL. I am a Site Supervisor for PACT Head Start in Macomb. I have been with Head Start over thirty-one years either as a staff member or a trainer. I have been a trainer for early childhood for twenty years. I believe within early childhood, we need to help children become lifelong learners. In doing so, teachers need to facilitate children?s play, allowing them to explore their environment, their cultures, and their thoughts. I believe that we need to encourage children to wonder; to teach them how to ask questions, seek answers and evaluate options. In a rapidly changing society in which every member is a contributor, individuals must have the ability to adapt. As an administrator I believe it is my responsibility to facilitate a safe and nurturing environment in which individuals have the freedom to express themselves, try new things and make mistakes. I endeavor to recognize the early childhood in each and every person and emphasize their personal strengths while building on their weaknesses. Personally, I try to learn something new every day. I am continually seeking ways to grow professionally and encourage growth in others. In my professional career, I am an Illinois Trainers Network Trainer. Through them, I conduct the following trainings: Creative Curriculum© for Infants/Toddlers and Twos; Creative Curriculum© for Preschool; Illinois Early Learning Standards for Children 3 to 5; and ECE Credential Level 1 Training. I am a Curriculum Coach for ISBE; a CDA Advisor and a CDA Representative. I have completed the training for Parents as Teachers from Missouri. I feel my thirty one years of experience, my education and dedication, and my leadership strengths in the early childhood field will enhance the early childhood field and teachers.
