What exactly is ADHD? This disorder can be puzzling and even frustrating for both providers and children. In this training we will explore what the disorder looks like and some of the causes behind it. You will also learn accommodations you can make for children, including environmental changes and strategies to successfully work with children who have been diagnosed with ADHD. Lastly, we will look at how peer relationships are affected and what you can do to help.

Families often express frustration and challenges with their child’s sleeping. We’ll learn strategies, including the “5 S’s” (from Dr. Harvey Karp’s “The Happiest Baby”) and infant touch/massage techniques for calming and encouraging sleep for infants. We’ll also talk about sleep for toddlers and preschool age children, including naps, sleep rituals, and how to implement bedtime “rules”. We’ll discuss sleep problems and solutions for: nightmares, night terrors, sleep talking/walking, head banging/rocking, teeth grinding and snoring.
