Before you start, here are a some things you can gather that will help you have everything in place that you need to complete the application. It will take about 15 minutes to complete a brand new application.. This depends on how many degrees and credentials you have to report. You can save the application at any point and come back later.

  • The name of the place, address and phone number where you work.
    • If you work for a licensed child care center or family/group child care home, you will need this information from the license. Licenses should be posted in a visible place in the center/home. If you need help finding this information, please see your program director.

      • The license number
      • The type of program (ex: child care center, family child care home, group family child care home)

If you have taken coursework toward a community college certificate or a college degree, you will need:

  • The name and address of the college you attended. (Many of the larger community colleges and universities are already in the system for you to select. The address information will only be needed if the college you attended is not in the system.)
  • Your major (if applicable).
  • The date the degree was awarded (if applicable). This date can be approximate. For example, if you know only that you graduated in 1975, enter 05/01/1975 in the application.

If you hold any current credentials or certifications, you will need:

  • The name of the credential/certification. Note: Gateways to Opportunity credentials are automatically recorded in the system. You will not be able to enter those yourself.
